Good Afternoon, Everyone:
On June 29 we held our annual Back-To-School Backpack & School Supplies Giveaway, with Pastor Karl Moore, First Lady Angela Moore, and Clarkston Mayor Beverly Burks at Clarkston First Baptist Church, and I am happy to report that it was a tremendous success. Here are just some of the highlights from that day:
1,110 backpacks filled with crucial school supplies given away
More than 45 Volunteers, including translators helped provide assistance before, during and after the event
DeKalb Public Health and MedCura provided school-required immunizations and various health screenings
Free car seats and booster seats were given away, along with safety checks and demonstrations for proper installation and use of the seats
A Teacher’s Corner was added this year to provide DeKalb educators with school supplies
Bonds Estate & Garden was a new addition to the event this year, providing holistic tea blends for more than 250 attendees
I want to express the depth of my gratitude to everyone who supported our efforts to ensure our children, their parents and guardians, and our educators have everything they need to make it a great school year. The dedication of our sponsors, partners, and volunteers is truly inspiring and underscores the wonderful things we can accomplish when we all work together. After all, it is about our children and investing in their future.

As always, thank you to the citizens of District 4 and DeKalb County for affording me this opportunity to serve. It is indeed an honor.
