BBBS_Interactions010_Maurice Malachi.jpg

Become a Mentor Today.

Mentoring brings people of different ages and backgrounds together, and we believe that strengthens the fabric of our community. BBBSATL works to defend and affirm the potential of all youth and seek volunteers who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and safe space for children and youth to be their authentic selves.

You can read more about BBBSATL's commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion here.

To be a Big, you must commit to meeting with your Little at least two times per month for at least one year.

Minimum Requirements:

  • You must be over the age of 18

  • Have reliable transportation

  • Plan to live at your address for at least one year

  • Consent to a criminal background check

  • And live in one of the counties BBBSATL serves: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, or Rockdale

Take the first step towards becoming a Big! We strongly encourage you to attend a Big Orientation to learn more about becoming a mentor. BBBSATL will guide you through each step in the process, which will move you closer to standing with us as a Defender of Potential. Review the steps below to determine if you're ready to be a Big.

The Process

Step 1:  Attend a Big Orientation

In this step, you'll learn more about the commitment and whether it's the right fit for you. This part is virtual, so need to leave the comfort of your home!

Step 2:  Complete a Volunteer Application

If you decide that being a Big is indeed the right fit for you, your next step will be to complete the full volunteer application.

Step 3:  Volunteer Interview

The interview will help BBBSATL learn more about you and who would make a good Little for you.

Step 4:  Volunteer Training

Learn the essentials for being a great mentor.

Step 5:  Match Meeting and Beyond

The match meeting will introduce you to your Little and their parents or guardians. Afterwards, BBBSATL works hard to support the relationship you have with your Little, providing additional guidance along the way.
